Against the backdrop of rising energy prices, decentralised power generation in detached and two-family houses is gaining in importance. For this reason, combined heat and power technology provides an alternative when using fuel cells: With the Vitovalor 300-P, Viessmann has brought an efficient solution for domestic energy supply to market: The heat generated as a by-product of power generation is used for central heating and DHW heating to save costs. The fuel cell heating appliance covers the complete heat demand and base load of the power demand in a detached or two-family house.
The Vitovalor 300-P consists of two units: a fuel cell module and a peak load module comprising an integral gas condensing boiler, heating water buffer cylinder and DHW cylinder, as well as all hydraulics, sensor technology and a control unit. The unit is compact, visually matched and requires a footprint of only 0.65 square metres.

Heat and power from a single source – the domestic fuel cell
With 19 kW, the Vitovalor 300-P provides enough thermal output to cover the entire heat demand of a detached house. The maximum amount of electrical energy generated over the course of a day (15 kWh) is enough to satisfy the demands of the average household. The integral gas condensing boiler switches on automatically when the heat generated by the fuel cell module is insufficient, such as at peak times or when a lot of hot water is required for a brief period.
Efficient and environmentally responsible
The fuel cell operates with hydrogen and air, where the hydrogen is derived from natural gas in a process upstream of the stack (reformer). The heat generated as a by-product of power generation process is utilised efficiently for both DHW and central heating. The compact fuel cell heating appliance provides a household with heat, covers the entire electricity demand and, whilst doing so, saves up to 40 % energy, compared to conventional gas condensing technology. This technology creates greater independence from rising electricity prices and protects the environment at the same time, meaning that CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 50 percent compared to conventional gas condensing technology.
