Which heating system?

Clearing the backlog of modernisation projects in the heating sector requires the full range of available technologies. Which ones are right to use will vary from case to case – depending on the output required, the energy sources and fuels available, and finally also on the individual requirements of the system user.

Oil condensing technology

  • You have an oil tank or an appropriate room.
  • You have heated with oil before.
  • You want a heat generator with a good price/performance ratio.
  • You know that the world's oil reserves are guaranteed to last for at least 40 years.
  • You know that oil condensing technology with bio-oil is futureproof.

Gas condensing technology

  • You already have a gas supply.
  • You want a heat generator with a good price/performance ratio.
  • You know that the world's gas reserves are guaranteed to last for at least 70 years.
  • You know that gas condensing technology with biogas has a firm future.

Wood / pellets

  • You have a storage room available.
  • You have enough space for a buffer cylinder with capacity of up to 1000 litres.
  • You want to be independent of oil and gas, and a higher investment outlay does not bother you.

Heat pump

  • You have an underfloor heating system or generously sized radiators.
  • Your house has good thermal insulation.
  • You can drill into the ground on your property or can alternatively install an ice store in it or provide space to set up an air source heat pump.
  • You have enough space for a buffer cylinder with capacity of up to 1000 litres.
  • You want to be independent of oil and gas, and a higher investment outlay does not bother you.
  • You want to use the natural cooling option in summer.

Solar

  • You want to use the free energy from the sun to heat your domestic hot water and back up your central heating.
  • You live in a detached or terraced house with an exposed roof area facing south, west or east.

Combined heat and power generation

  • Do you heat with gas or do you have a gas supply?
  • Does your annual consumption of natural gas exceed 2000 m³ of gas (which equates to about 2000 litres of fuel oil)?
  • Does your annual consumption of power exceed 3000 kWh?
  • Do you want to optimise the efficiency of your heating system and reduce your electricity bills by about 50 %?
