The Viessmann Vitocrossal gas condensing boilers

To the product range

Alongside boilers for detached houses, the Vitocrossal product range also includes medium sized boilers with a higher output range. Here you'll be able to find out about how the various models in this line differ and also, most especially, what they have in common.

Vitocrossal gas condensing boilers with broad output spectrum

The Viessmann Vitocrossal product group is noted for its exceptional efficiency and minimal pollutant emissions thanks to the use of the latest condensing technology. This ensures that less thermal energy – in the form of water vapour in the flue gases – is lost. What's ingenious about the condensing technology is that the hot flue gases produced during combustion are routed via a second heat exchanger. The steam condenses on this heat exchanger. This releases energy which is then additionally fed into the heating system. It is therefore not unusual for the models to be assigned to energy efficiency class A. And if combined with solar collectors, they may even be awarded efficiency class A+.

Condensing technology is most beneficial where heating system temperatures are low. This makes gas condensing boilers particularly suitable for new build. But it's also worthwhile installing them as part of an extensive  modernisation project. By utilising this advanced heating technology to exploit the hidden heat in the flue gases, it's possible to reduce heating costs by up to 30  percent.

The Vitocrossal product line can be divided into the following types:

For the higher output range

Performance spectrum

TypeRated heating outputCan be linked in cascade
Vitocrossal  100 type  CIB80 to 318  kWTwin boiler up to 636  kW
Vitocrossal 200 CI380 to 640 kWUp to 5120 kW
Vitocrossal 200 type  CRU800 to 1000  kWUp to 8  units and up to 8000  kW
Vitocrossal  300 type  CR3B787 to 1400  kW-

As the table shows, Viessmann's floorstanding condensing boilers are suitable for a wide variety of applications, ranging from detached or two-family houses through to apartment buildings, smaller commercial properties and even, as in the case of the Vitocrossal 300 type CR3B, larger public buildings and local heating networks.

What sets the Vitocrossal gas condensing boiler apart?

As we've seen, the products in the Vitocrossal range provide  condensing technology across a wide output spectrum. All models achieve a standard seasonal efficiency [to DIN] of up to 98  percent. This is made possible by the use of high quality components such as the stainless steel Inox-Crossal heat exchanger. It is arranged vertically. This allows it to utilise the condensing energy in the hot gases with exceptional intensity. In addition, there is a permanent self-cleaning effect thanks to the smooth stainless steel surface. This in turn ensures efficiency, but also extends the service life and reduces maintenance requirements, as there is less wear caused by contamination.

Another equally important component in Vitocrossal condensing boilers is the MatriX burner. They operate in modulating mode whereby the boiler automatically adapts to the required heating output. This happens seamlessly, without the burner having to be continually switched on or off. This means that less cycling is required. This reduces wear and ultimately maintenance and servicing costs. The MatriX burners are inherently economical, quiet and environmentally responsible. One special model worthy of particular note is the Vitocrossal 200 type CRU. In this product, we have installed a MatriX-Disk burner, which is exceptionally quiet, even though outputs of up to 1000  kW can be achieved. In addition, the burner modulates in the range 1:6, meaning that the output can be regulated to below 20 percent.

Good controllability is likewise ensured by the large water content and the wide heat galleries. They also guarantee reliable heat transfer.
