The heat generated by the fuel cell can be used efficiently for heating. We recommend installing a Vitocell 100-E heating water buffer cylinder, which is available in versions with capacities of up to 950 litres. A combination with the Vitocell 340-M combi cylinder is also recommended.

The Vitovalor PA2 fuel cell from Viessmann
The Vitovalor PA2 fuel cell is the ideal addition to an existing heating system. With this proven device, you generate your own power. Self-consumption helps to achieve a high degree of self-sufficiency. You will become largely independent of the public grid and, therefore, of rising electricity costs.
Also suitable for apartment buildings and small commercial premises
The Vitovalor PA2 supplies sufficient output for an annual power demand of up to 6000 kWh. The electrical energy of up to 18 kWh produced in the course of the day covers a large part of the basic demand, and is also suitable for supplying apartment buildings and small commercial premises with electricity.

More about Connectivity InsideThe special features of the Vitovalor PA2
With an installed height of only 1600 millimetres, the fuel cell can also be installed in rooms with low ceilings such as in basements. If there is already a Vitodens 200-W with a heating output of up to 26 kW in the building, the Vitovalor PA2 does not need its own exhaust system. Vitodens 200-W and Vitovalor appliances built in 2011 or later can be operated in a flue gas cascade.
As with all new developments from Viessmann, reliability and durability are top priorities when it comes to the Vitovalor PA2. The fuel cell stack developed by Panasonic is designed for a service life of at least ten years. This corresponds to around 80,000 hours of operation. Maintenance of the module is required only once every five years. Service packages tailored to the appliance are available, which ensure up to 20 years' operation.
Charging an electric car at home: How to do it right.
Know-how: Virtually every house (newly built or modernised) can produce green electricity for its occupants and an electric car – with solar cells, a fuel cell, a power storage unit and the right technology, electricity and petrol costs can be reduced as much as possible. Andreas Czylwick, our expert for power and heating systems, explains how this works and how it pays off.
How does the Vitovalor PA2 fuel cell work?
The Vitovalor PA2 uses the principle of cogeneration to produce heat and power simultaneously. Hydrogen extracted from natural gas is used as the energy source. For more information, go to How the fuel cell works.
Natural gas: perfect for fuel cells
The fuel cell uses hydrogen as its energy source. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in nature and is present in all organic compounds. Natural gas contains hydrogen as well as carbon. However, hydrogen does not exist in its pure form in nature. Natural gas is therefore used for the fuel cell. As the fossil fuel with the lowest emissions, it is highly suitable for obtaining pure hydrogen. The PA2 is preset for operation with natural gas E. However, it can be switched to natural gas LL.
Ultimate operating convenience with a modern 7" colour touchscreen
The generous 7" colour touchscreen delivers the ultimate level of operating convenience. In the energy cockpit, users can track the current electricity yield as well as the consumption of electricity and gas.
Self-learning energy manager
The built-in energy manager ensures optimum operation. The self-learning electronics respond to the individual demands of your household or company. This means that the fuel cell is only switched on when sufficiently long runtimes can be expected, and therefore corresponding power generation and on-site utilisation, can be expected.
